Cooleyville Texas Beats Watering Restrictions

City Watering restrictions don't stop Controller Link from saving money on your water bill.
Colleyville Texas resident perfects sprinkler system with Controller Link to lower water bill
This beautiful home is located in Colleyville, Texas where summers are hot and humid, autumns are cool, winters are mild, and springs are usually stormy, with large downpours.

Controller Link
Controller Link is a simple upgrade for existing sprinkler timers to provide climate controlled irrigation.  Controller Link saves water by managing irrigation, based on real-time weather conditions.

Tipping Rain Gauge
Total rainfall amounts are calculated and sent to your Controller Link Smart Controller where those amounts are added to your (ET) values so your sprinkler system doesn’t start watering again just because it has stopped raining.

Colleyville, Texas is a beautiful community outside of the Dallas/Fortworth area where homes take on the pride of the owners. During the 2012/2013 water schedule, water rates were changed to a tiered system to help conserve water. According to the Colleyville website, over 50% of all water used in a month goes to the landscaping. Creating a situation where water bills can increase dramatically. Add to that a Stage 1 drought restriction, giving residents only 2 days a week to water between 10 A.M. and 6 P.M.

A Controller Link was purchased for this beautiful home, with the Weather Reach Remote Monitoring system in March 2013 to help lower the monthly water bill on a 20,000 sq ft lot with 6500 sq ft of lawn covered by 6 zones of pop up sprinklers and 2 zones of shrubs and flowers. With the 2 day a week water restrictions, and the hottest part of the season to come, the owner watched his water bill very closely over June to see exactly how much money could be saved. The owner saw a 50% decrease in his bill even with the 2 day a week restrictions. Controller Link lets this home have 2 start times for the same day, so that water has a chance to absorb into the ground, before laying down the rest of the alotted amount. Starting the first water time early and the second start time, just hours later. That’s what makes Controller Link so smart.

Controller Link uses site specific settings that are based on historical ET weather data, types of soil and irrigation moisture balance, plus other location specific considerations, to calculate the rate of evaporation. By allowing the water to evaporate, air is getting to the roots of the plants giving them valuable nutrients from the soil before saturating them in water again. Weather data is collected hourly from local ET weather stations giving Controller Link accurate and timely data.

By using the Weather Reach Access remote management tool for their Controller Link, David Groves can now make changes to his settings, view logs and monitor the status of the overall irrigation system. Available for smart phones, tablets, and computers where there is internet access.

"Controller Link insures compliance with local watering restrictions, turns itself off when it rains, freezes or is too windy. It only waters when your yard needs water and it saves money."
David Groves
